Awesome Golf Range Heads to The Open as BoxGolf and Scottsdale Golf Join Landmark Activation.

Awesome Golf Range (AGR) and BoxGolf are bringing their technology to the biggest stage in golf. AGR have partnered with BoxGolf and Scottsdale Golf in a landmark fan activation at the 154th Open, taking place at Royal Birkdale Golf Club from July 16 to 19, 2026 - a standout moment for the partnership, and one of AGR's highest-profile activations yet.

At the heart of the activation is a fully live, two-bay BoxGolf unit, set up on site for fans to step into and use throughout Championship week. BoxGolf's modular, weatherproof units - designed by a PGA professional - are built around Awesome Golf's technology, giving golfers instant ball flight and shot data from every swing. What sets BoxGolf apart from typical range solutions is how compact and adaptable the units are: a full simulator-grade experience in a footprint small enough to install at almost any golf club or leisure venue.

Combining that flexibility with high-end simulator technology, BoxGolf’s units and Awesome Golf Range’s equipment form one of the most advanced driving range systems on the market. Each bay is fitted with FlightScope Range Gen2 units, capturing detailed swing analysis including spin axis, club path, face angle, face impact location and spin rate. This is paired with specialised Titleist Pro V1 RCT balls provided at The Open by Scottsdale Golf, which are purpose-built to enhance radar tracking. The system isn’t reliant on these balls though, it also works markerless with standard range balls, accommodated using personalised range ball configuration at each individual venue.

Bringing that setup to Royal Birkdale means fans won't just hear about the technology behind BoxGolf's venues - they'll see the hitting bays in action for themselves, take a swing, and watch their shot data appear on screen in real time, all just steps from the Claret Jug.

Scottsdale Golf, one of the UK's best-known golf retailers and custom-fitting specialists, joins the activation as retail partner, giving fans the chance to explore the latest equipment and get expert advice alongside the tech experience - rounding out an activation that blends performance, technology, and retail in one spot.
